Mesh Computers - Matrix 64 3400+ review

Never slow in adopting the latest technology, Mesh's latest addition to its Matrix product line uses the new version of the AMD Athlon 64 processor; the 3400+.
Housed in the now-familiar black Mesh case, the Matrix 64 3400+ is laden with goodies and offers a fair bit of future-proofing into the bargain, especially as 64-bit software and games are in their early days.
The Athlon 64 3400+ processor is rated at 2.2GHz, has 1MB of Level 2 cache and an 800MHz FSB. It is compatible with both 64-bit and 32-bit applications, which is handy as 64-bit apps are noticeable by their absence.
Backing up the CPU is 1GB of PC3200 (DDR 400MHz) memory in the form of two 512MB modules. The motherboard can support a maximum of 3GB in three DIMM slots, so there's no lack of performance available from this PC.
On opening the tool-free side panel, the internals are neat and tidy with pride of place going to the Asus K8V Deluxe motherboard which, with all the data and power cables neatly clipped out of the way, is easy to get to. The K8V uses one of the fastest chipsets around for the Athlon 64, the VIA K8T800, and this is combined with a VIA VT8237 Southbridge.

Gigabyte Creates a 915P Motherboard With SLI : Gigabyte Creates A 915P Motherboard With SLI

Until now, only Athlon64 motherboards (Socket 939) based on NVIDIA's new nForce4 SLI chipset or the K8T890 Pro from VIA have been capable of operating two graphics cards. In Intel's 900 series chipset world, SLI still has not been a factor. Since we have already proven that dual PCI Express graphics does not necessarily require wide PCIe links , solutions based on narrower PCIe links were only a matter of time.

ECS PN2 SLI2+ nVIDIA nForce 680i SLi Motherboard

Let's be frank. The question isn't whether AMD or Intel are leading the charge, it's nVIDIA. For the last couple of years anyway, the graphics boys in Santa Carla have shown the PC world how to make a good chipset and a feature packed motherboard. For end users like you and me, well, we've been treated to features that at one time were solely left for the workstation and server markets.
The pace of change has certainly been frantic, thanks in great spades to Intel's Core 2 Duo processor. AMD started off with a great 64-bit bang, but Socket 775 is where all the action is now. The flagship nVidia nForce 680i chipset extends the performance and feature lead over Intel's best core logic, right where the nForce 590 SLI Intel Edition left off.

XFX Launches XFX GF 9800GX2 And N790i

Specifically, the GeForce 9800 GX2-based graphics card combines the power of two GeForce 9800 GPUs into a single graphics solution. Featuring NVIDIA HybridPower technology, 256 screaming fast stream processors and a 1 GB framebuffer, this powerhouse clocks in at up to 50 percent faster across games than the industry’s previous top athlete, the GeForce 8800 Ultra.

The card has a core clock speed of 620Mhz and 1700Mhz memory clock, which is higher than 540Mhz and 1400MHz respectively in the GeForce 8600 GT reference model.
Made for budget-minded gamers and multimedia users, the XFX GeForce 8600 GT Fatal1ty incorporates support for DirectX 10 games and NVIDIA PureVideo HD technology for hardware decoding of high definition multimedia content.
XFX GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB

A little over a month ago we looked at NVIDIA's GeForce 8800 GT Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), which brought the high-end performance of the GeForce 8800 Series down to mainstream prices. Building on the success of the GeForce 8800 GT, NVIDIA today is lauching the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB.
Unlike the 320MB and 640MB models of the GeForce 8800 GTS that debuted last November, the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB is manufactured using a smaller 65nm fabrication process and a scaled back 256-bit memory bus.

Further DDR3 price drops are expected to continue into the fourth quarter and means many will be looking for quality motherboards suitable for high-speed DDR3. That being the case Benchmark Reviews thought it would be of interest to examine one of the more mature DDR3 based motherboard offerings on the market today; the ASUS P5E64 WS Professional Motherboard based on Intel's 3 series X38 Express Chipset with support for unheard of "Quad" graphics.

Nvidia's GeForce 7900 GS graphics card

We've already seen ATI make its first moves in this seasonal ritual, lifting the curtains on the Radeon X1950 XTX and its more affordable cousin, the Radeon X1900 XT 256MB. Now it's Nvidia's turn to respond with a new GeForce that knows one very cool trick: how to perform like a $300 card while selling for about two hundred bucks. This new GeForce 7900 GS will make your phosphor glow in successive colors almost as rapidly as the GeForce 7900 GT, but it runs quieter and costs less. This isn't exactly a revolutionary upsurge in graphics power, but it's better than burning your hand on a Pentium 4.

Intel’s Latest Gaming Platform - Skulltrail

It also features six USB ports, six SATA ports, dual eSata ports, Firewire and Gigabit Ethernet
.
From the looks of the specs this is going to be an amazing platform to build some serious gaming PC’s on and I suspect this isn’t going to be cheap either.
ASUS P5W DH DELUXE/WIFI-AP ATX Intel Motherboard

Bytesizedreviews.com] has a 3-page review, which simply introduces the motherboard layout, and focuses on the test performance of the motherboard and its overclockability. [Bytesizedreviews.com] Asus has once again produced an excellent enthusiast motherboard that's great for overclocking Intel's latest and greatest. While we don't have much here to make a comparison with, we're confident that the Asus should be on your short list if you're intending to upgrade to Conroe. The board layout is good if not perfect, the overclocking features are plenty and the package is full of nice surprises such as the remote control....more
CDRinfo.com has a detailed review on BIOS, installation, test performance (3D Mark, F.E.A.R and etc), overclockability of the motherboard. [CDRinfo.com] Asus has a well established name in motherboards for both Intel and AMD platforms. The Asus P5W DH Deluxe board has been on the market for quite a while and we finally had the opportunity to test and compared it with other, latest release Asus boards for the Core2Duo platform. So how does the "older" Asus P5W DH Deluxe stack up against the newer P5B Deluxe and P5W64WS Pro motherboards? Let's find out... more
Diefferent from CDRinfo.com, [Sg.vr-zone.com]'s review puts more attention on details of the motherboard, e.g. the storage and sound, accessories and etc. [Sg.vr-zone.com] A glimpse of what can be found on the bottom right corner of the mainboard. As you can see in the picture above, there is only 3 ports available to the ICH7R Controller, with one port being replicated to two via the Silicon Image 4732 Steelvine Storage Processor, which is a pure hardware RAID implementation that will not take up additional CPU resources. Asus' has modified the BIOS of the Steelvine as such that users can only run RAID 0 or 1 on it via jumpers on top of the ICH7R SATA ports as pictured above. You will be able to perform Cross-RAID with the SATA ports on ICH7R via this controller....more
I've been 'smacked over' by Intel's latest Extreme Hardware!
The whole process took me a couple of hours, and I’ll most likely be tweaking a bit more over the next week or so. Here are a few photos to show the build-up over the weekend.
